Yakhnin Izrail Borisovich (1929, Daugavpils ― 2005, Riga) ― art photographer. Veteran of the Great Patriotic War. He was born into the family of a tailor. In 1942 he and his mother were evacuated to Kirov, where he worked as a cinema projectionist at a military hospital. He took up photography in 1949 as an apprentice at the Industrial Combine of the Road Administration of the Latvian Railway. From 1955, after military service, until 15 January 1992 he worked at the Art Production Workshop of the Theatrical Society of the Latvian SSR (from 1 February 1964 — the State Philharmonic of the Latvian SSR), photographing the philharmonic's soloists and performers visiting Riga. A permanent exhibition of Ya.'s work was maintained in the foyer of the philharmonic. In 1992―99 he worked at the Latvian State Archive of Cinema-Photo-Phono Documents.
