Yafit David (1913, Riga) ― Prisoner of Zion. In his youth he was an activist of the “Beitar” movement and in the “Histadrut HaTzionit.” In 1933―34 he was commander of a “Beitar” cell in Riga; before the Soviet occupation he was deputy commander of “Beitar” in Latvia. From 1946 he began fighting for the repatriation of Jews from the Soviet Union. He was arrested in 1951 on charges of having concealed his chairmanship of “Beitar” in 1933―36, and was sentenced by the Special Council to 10 years of imprisonment, which he served in the camps of Vorkuta.
