Vald (Wald) Grigory Borisovich (born 18 March 1938, Kharkiv, Ukraine) – labourer.

Grigory Vald was born into the family of Boris Israelievich Vald (1906–1963, Riga), a clerical worker, and Esfar Gavrilovna Vald (b. 1907, Uman, Ukraine), a housewife. He was evacuated to Burnaya Station in the Dzhambul District of the Kazakh SSR in 1941, and later relocated to Kazan, Tatar ASSR, in 1943.

Grigory Vald completed secondary education. He worked in Riga as an electrical fitter at the Institute of Electronics and Computer Technology of the Latvian SSR Academy of Sciences (1967–1976), then as a delivery clerk at the “Flora” industrial association (1976), and later as an electrical fitter at the Hydrometpribor Factory (1976–1977).

In 1958, Grigory Vald began a pen-pal friendship with the Paulus family living in the GDR. He visited them in Erfurt in 1968, and in 1970, Dietmar and Brigitte Paulus visited him in Riga. In 1971, he returned to visit them again in the GDR. In 1974, a similar travel request was denied by OVIR (Soviet emigration and visa office).

From his marriage to Angelina Dmitrievna Vald (b. 1943, Pskov), a daughter, Tatyana Grigoryevna Vald (b. 1968, Riga), was born.

In 1977, Grigory Vald again petitioned for permission to visit friends in the GDR. The documents do not indicate whether permission was granted or denied.
