Vainshtein (Weinstein) (née Yankovich, first marriage – Gavartina) Sara Elyakimovna (15 April 1913, Riga) – worker.
Sara Vainshtein was born into the family of glazier Elyakim Zalmanovich Yankovich (1871–1941, Riga) and housewife Mera Khaimovna Yankovich (1872, Panevezys – 1942, Leninabad). She completed primary school, worked as a milliner’s apprentice, and later as a milliner in Riga until 1941. She was evacuated to Leninabad, where she worked at a canning factory until 1945. Upon returning to Riga, she married and became a homemaker.
In her first marriage to Abram Mendelevich Gavartin (1913, Balvi – killed at the front in WWII in 1943), there were no children.
In her second marriage to Leib Meerovich Vainshtein (b. 1913), she had a daughter Mira Leibovna Simson (née Vainshtein) (b. 1946, Riga) and a son Meer Leibovich Vainshtein (b. 1949, Riga).
In 1972, Sara Vainshtein received permission to emigrate to Israel, where since 1929 her husband’s brother, David Meerovich Vainshtein, had resided.
