Vainer (Weiner) Leib Aronovich (1906 — ?) — participant in the revolutionary movement and victim of political repression. Among his associates were E. Ameriks, Ya. Purens, Z. Klyatskin, and R. Lapiņš.

During the 1st Latvian Republic, Leib Vainer was involved in underground revolutionary activities from around 1922. He worked in a leftist trade union and was one of the organisers and leaders of strikes by workers in Riga's footwear industry. In 1927 he joined the Communist Party of the Soviet Union.

From 1929 to 1932, Leib Vainer was elected as a member of the 1st and later the 3rd District Committee of the Communist Party of Latvia, as well as a member of the Riga City Party Committee. Due to his underground work, he was repeatedly arrested. In May 1932, he emigrated to Germany and in September of the same year moved to the Soviet Union, where he worked as a foreman in the cutting department at the “Paris Commune” shoe factory.

In 1938, Vayner was arrested by the NKVD and sentenced to ten years in a labour camp. After his release, he lived and worked in Ukhta (Komi ASSR, now the Komi Republic) until 1954. From 1954, he resided in Riga, where he worked as a shoe upper preparer at the “Spars” factory, an implementation engineer, and head of a department at the Riga Fashion House. In 1955, he was fully rehabilitated, and in 1957 reinstated as a member of the Communist Party. He held the status of a personal pensioner of republican significance.
