Sverdlov (Swerdlow) Avrom (Awrom) (1913, Riga – 1936) — publicist.

Avrom Sverdlov was born in Riga and graduated from a gymnasium with instruction in Hebrew. He was actively involved in the Jewish communist youth movement.

He worked in organizations promoting the settlement of Jews on land in the Soviet Union, including OZET and “ICOR.” Under various pseudonyms, he published articles in illegal and semi-legal Jewish periodicals in Latvia.

In 1934, he was arrested. After his release, he illegally entered the USSR, where he was later repressed. He died in a labor camp.

In 1937, his novel “Yugnt shmidt a tsukunft” (“Youth Forges the Future”) was published in Riga.
