Sosner Estera Altman (1937, Riga) — engineer.
Estera’s mother, Sara Altman (1912, Varakļāni — 1969, Riga), travelled to Palestine in 1936 to take part in sporting competitions, where she married Anatoly-Tankhum Stematsky (1908, Orsha, Belarus), a native of Belarus living in Palestine. Shortly before Estera’s birth, her parents came to Latvia to visit her maternal grandparents. A few months later, her father returned to Palestine, while her mother remained in Latvia to care for her seriously ill father. The outbreak of the Second World War permanently separated her parents.
In 1941, Estera Sosner was evacuated with her mother to Kazan. In 1945, the family returned to Latvia. In 1959, she graduated from the Latvian State University, receiving a degree in economics.
From 1959 to 1960, she worked as a rate-setter at the combine “Zasulauks Manufaktūra.” From 1960 to 1966, she worked as an engineer-economist at the Riga Refrigeration Machinery Plant “Kompressor.” From 1966 to 1967, she worked as a senior engineer at the plant “Orgtekhstroy,” and from 1967 to 1972 as a senior engineer at the Riga Experimental Plant of Mechanisation Equipment.
She married Solomon Sosner (1941, Riga). Their daughters are Ilana Sosner (1965, Riga) and Sofia Sosner (1969, Riga).
In 1971, Estera Sosner and her family received permission to emigrate to Israel to join her father.
