Skorokhod (Skorochod) Iser Abramovich (1 July 1913, Ludza) — hairdresser.

Iser Skorokhod was the son of Abram Skorokhod (1875, Daugavpils District — 1942, Kyrgyzstan) and Pesya Skorokhod (née Belkind; 1881, Krustpils — 1965, Riga).

In 1926, he completed six years of primary education. Until 1935, he worked as an apprentice hairdresser and later as a hairdresser in Ludza. From 1935 to 1936, he served in the Latvian Army. In 1937, he moved to Baldone, where until 1940 he worked as a hairdresser in private salons.

In 1940, he moved to Riga, where he worked as a hairdresser until 1941. In 1941, he voluntarily joined the ranks of the Soviet Army. After demobilisation in 1945, he returned to Riga.

From 1945 to 1958, he worked as a salesman in a commission shop and later as a shop manager in the Riga Municipal Industrial Trade system. From 1958 to 1962, he was manager of a shop in the Riga Textile, Clothing and Footwear Trade organisation. In 1962, he graduated from the Riga City Correspondence Secondary School.

In 1962, he was convicted under Articles 88(2) and 165(2) of the Criminal Code of the Latvian SSR and sentenced to six years’ imprisonment. He served his sentence in Jelgava. His conviction was expunged in 1970 by decision of the People’s Court of the Kirov District of Riga.

From 1967, Iser Skorokhod worked as a hairdresser and as head of Hairdressing Salon No. 35 at the “Laimdota” combine. He was awarded the medals “For Combat Merit”, “For Courage”, “For the Defence of Moscow”, “20 Years of Victory over Germany in the Great Patriotic War 1941–45”, and “50 Years of the Armed Forces of the USSR”.

In his marriage to Riva Skorokhod (née Kagan; 1922, Karsava), children were born: Vulf Skorokhod (1949, Riga) and Liya Skorokhod (1951, Riga). In 1973, he received permission to emigrate to Israel at the invitation of his brother, Hirsh Skorokhod (1920, Ludza).
