Sigal Mordkhai (Mordchai) (29 June 1909, Riga – 1941) – teacher.

Mordkhai Sigal was educated at the Jewish private school “Tora veDerekh Arets” (“Torah and the Road to the Homeland”) and at the elementary and secondary schools of the Jewish Society for the Advancement of Art and Knowledge in Riga. In January 1936, he graduated from the pedagogical department of the Faculty of Philology and Philosophy at the University of Latvia, passing state examinations and defending a diploma thesis dedicated to the 19th-century German educator Adolf Diesterweg. He received a candidate of pedagogy diploma.

From 1931, as an acting teacher, he taught Hebrew, Jewish history, and psychology in Riga at the supplementary and evening school of the Jewish Teachers’ Society “Hamore,” the private Jewish elementary school and gymnasium of I. Raukhvarger, and the 9th City Jewish Elementary School. He received certification as a fully qualified secondary school teacher in March 1936 and continued his pedagogical practice in the 1940/41 academic year. He perished in the Riga Ghetto.
