As a native of Ukraine, in the autumn of 1941 he was transferred to the labor front and sent to construction work in Pervouralsk, Sverdlovsk Region. In March 1942, due to his state of health, he was transferred to work in his profession. In 1944 he married Kushner Sima (1924), and in the autumn of 1946 moved to Riga to join his wife and son. He worked as a cutter-designer at the Riga Fashion House and the Central Department Store.
Until 1939 he was a citizen of Poland. From 1939 to 1958 he held Soviet citizenship. In 1959, under repatriation, he left for Poland and took Polish citizenship. In 1961–1963 he lived in Riga, in 1963 returned to Warsaw, and from there in the late 1960s moved to Haifa.
