Shenkman Yefrem Davidovich (7.08.1943, Andijan, Uzbek SSR) – worker. Born into the family of office worker Shenkman David Mikhailovich (1909, Riga) and worker Shenkman (Nagli) Minda Yefremovna (1908, Dagda, Latvia). He finished Riga's 7-year school No. 60 (1958). In Riga he worked as a labourer – at the “Darbs” repair-and-mechanical plant (1959–1962), at the paint-and-varnish plant (1962–1965), at the polyethylene-products plant (1965–1968), at the “Impuls” plant (1968–1970), at the “Medtekhnika” plant (1970); from 1970 – disability pensioner.

In 1971 he received permission to emigrate to Israel, where his aunt (his father's half-sister), Rabinovich (Shenkman) Khana Mikhailovna (1908, Vitebsk), had lived since 1945.
