Selitsky (Selizky) Yosif ( Josif) (1912, Dvinsk [Daugavpils] — December 1941, near Moscow) — participant in the revolutionary movement.

At the age of 15, Yosif Selitsky began working as an apprentice in a shoemaking workshop. In 1928, he became a member of the illegal Communist Youth Union of Latvia.

In 1930, he was arrested for revolutionary activities and sentenced to three years’ imprisonment. After his release in 1932, he continued his work in the Komsomol in Daugavpils.

From 1932 to 1938, he was repeatedly imprisoned in Daugavpils and Riga prisons, where he actively participated in the activities of political prisoners.

In 1939, he was mobilized into the Latvian Army. While serving, he organized an illegal revolutionary group among soldiers of a labour company and carried out active agitation among soldiers of the Daugavpils garrison.

After the establishment of Soviet power in 1940, he received the rank of colonel.

On 4 July 1941, Yosif Selitsky left Latvia. In August 1941, he volunteered for the Latvian Rifle Division. He was killed in action near Moscow in December 1941.
