Sapozhnik (Saposhnik) Idel Tsekhmakhershevich (1895 — exact dates and places of birth and death unknown) — participant in the revolutionary movement.

From 1905 to 1913, Idel Sapozhnik was an apprentice shoemaker in Riga, where he also took part in workers’ revolutionary actions. In 1913, he emigrated to Argentina, where from 1918 to 1932 he was a member of and worked for the Communist Party of Argentina.

He was arrested, and after two years in prison was deported from Argentina aboard the military ship “Chaco” as a foreign national. He lived illegally in Latvia, and from 1935 — in Estonia. In 1937, he illegally crossed the Estonian–Soviet border, was arrested by the NKVD, sentenced to 8 years of forced labor camps, and sent to Solikamsk (Perm Region), where he remained until 1943.

In 1943–1945, he lived and worked in Kungur. From 1946 to 1957, he worked as a shoemaker in the artel “Bolshevik” in Daugavpils.

Idel Sapozhnik was granted the status of a personal pensioner of republican significance.
