Rusonik Moishe (Mikhail) (1922, Daugavpils) — athlete and trade worker.
In 1938 Moishe Rusonik moved to Riga, where he began working at a ship-repair plant. During this period he developed an interest in sports, initially playing football. In 1941 he joined the Latvian Division and took part in combat operations against the Nazis. For his military service he was awarded the Order of the Red Star and other decorations.
While serving in the army he began training in weightlifting (barbell lifting) as a member of the Army Sports Club. He became champion of the Baltic Military District.
In 1946 he was demobilized and entered competitive sports. He competed in the bantamweight category (up to 56 kg). From 1945 to 1960 he was a ten-time champion of Latvia, and from 1956 to 1959 an eight-time champion of the Baltic region. He also participated in All-Union and international competitions and was awarded the title Master of Sports of the USSR.
In 1960 he was forced to retire from top-level sport. Afterwards he worked in trade for twenty years, receiving several awards for his professional achievements.
He later settled in Israel, in Ashdod.
