Rabinovich (Rabinowitsch) Samuil Evgenievich (1901, Riga — 1938, Moscow) — military historian. Divisional Commissar.

Samuil Rabinovich received a traditional Jewish religious education. From 1919 served in the Red Army; in 1920 completed command courses and became a political officer. In 1926 was sent to Moscow to study at the Military-Political Academy. After graduating from the academy, he worked on the Soviet Military Encyclopedia. Served as assistant to the People’s Commissar for Military and Naval Affairs of the USSR, K. E. Voroshilov. Consulted the writer N. A. Ostrovsky on a number of military issues.

In 1937, in connection with accusations of contacts with Trotskyists, he was demoted to the rank of regimental commissar and transferred to the Military-Historical Department of the General Staff of the Red Army. At the end of 1937 he was arrested and executed.
