In 1941 she was evacuated to Samarkand, where until 1945 she worked as a bookkeeper at the kolkhoz “Proletary”. In 1946 she returned to Riga and until 1947 worked as an accountant at Housing Administration No. 110. In 1948–1949 she was a receiving clerk and later manager of a dry-cleaning service at the artel “Zvaigzne”. From 1949 to 1954 she managed a kiosk at the artel “Ausma”. In 1955–1959 she worked as a shop assistant in the stores of Riga City Industrial Trade Administration. From 1959 to 1971 she was a laboratory controller at the textile factory “Sadarbs”.

Her first husband, Aron Pratsun (b. 1909, Kraslava), was killed in action during the Second World War. In her first marriage she had a son, Rafael Pratsun (b. 1938, Riga).

Her parents, Elya Balkin (1880, Krustpils — 1941, Riga) and Sara-Riva Balkina (1878, Jaunjelgava — 1941, Riga), perished in the Holocaust.

In 1971 Tauba Pratsun received permission to emigrate to Israel at the invitation of her sister, Frida Rutshtein (née Balkina) (b. 1914, Riga).
