Pliner (née Raisina) Raisa Barukhovna, according to other sources Borisovna (17 April 1939, Indra station, Kraslava District, Latvia) - mechanical engineer.
Raisa Pliner was born into a family of employees: her father Boris Isaakovich Raisin (1904, Ludza, Latvia – 1978, Riga) and her mother Meri Ruvimovna Raisina (née Munits) (1903, Indra station – 1976, Riga).
From 1941 to 1947 she was evacuated to the Ilansky District of Krasnoyarsk Krai, where she began her schooling at the Vostochnaya Primary School (1947). In 1948 she lived with an aunt in Leningrad; from 1948 to 1951 she lived with her family in Daugavpils. In 1951 she moved to the village of Shalinskoye, Mansky District, Krasnoyarsk Krai, where she completed seven grades of secondary school (1953). She subsequently graduated from the Krasnoyarsk Machine-Building Technical College (1957) and from the Mechanical Faculty of the Krasnoyarsk Polytechnic Institute (1962).
After moving to Riga, she worked at the Central Design and Engineering Bureau of Mechanization and Automation (TsPKBMA) of the Latvian SSR (1962–1964) and then as a design engineer at the Special Design Bureau of the Hydrometpribor Plant (1964–1972).
In her marriage to Leiba Abramovich Pliner (born 1937, Zilupe, Latvia), two daughters were born: Bella Leibovna Pliner (1963, Jūrmala) and Marina Leibovna Pliner (1967, Riga).
In 1972 Raisa Pliner received permission to emigrate to Israel, where from the spring of that year lived her husband’s sister Rosa Abramovna Mostova (née Pliner) (born 1935, Ludza, Latvia), as well as her uncle Kalman Isaakovich Raisin (born 1910, Ludza) and her aunt Hana Isaakovna Shabatai (née Raisina) (born 1914, Ludza).
