Olkhovsky (Olchowsky) Roman Markovich (1893, Riga – 1939) — scientist in horse breeding. Doctor of Agricultural Sciences (1935).

Roman Olkhovsky graduated from the Kharkov Veterinary Institute and worked in the zemstvo (local self-government). He was a participant in World War I and the Russian Civil War, after which he worked in Soviet administrative bodies. He took part in an expedition studying the state of horse breeding in the USSR.

In the early 1930s, he was one of the organizers of the Research Institute of Horse Breeding and served as Deputy Director for Scientific Affairs. He lectured on horse breeding at higher educational institutions in Moscow. He was the founder and editor-in-chief of the journal Horse Breeding and Stud Farming (Konevodstvo i konezavodstvo).

He was also engaged in the history of Russian literature and art and served as editor-in-chief of the journal Mir Iskusstva (World of Art), which was revived in Moscow in the 1920s.

In 1938 he was arrested and subsequently executed.

His son, E. R. Olkhovsky, became a Doctor of Historical Sciences (1979) and Professor (1980).
