Marshak (Marschak) Daniel (1872, Tukums, Courland Governorate — 1937, Minsk) was a poet, writer, and playwright.
Daniel Marshak was forced to begin working at an early age and educated himself independently. After serving in the army, he became a socialist and joined the Bund. He worked as a shoemaker in Minsk. In the late 1890s he began writing poetry and short prose in German.
In 1904 he was imprisoned for revolutionary activity, after which he began writing in Yiddish. In 1905 he published his first short story in the Saint Petersburg newspaper Der fraynd and subsequently appeared in various periodicals. The central theme of his work was the life of workers.
