Lurie Ester (Esther) (?, Liepaja ― 1998, Tel Aviv) ― artist.

Ester Lurie was born into a religious family. In 1917, Lurie's family moved to Riga. She graduated from Ezra Gymnasium. From 1931 to 1934, she studied theatre design at the Brussels Institute of Decorative Arts, then at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp. In 1934, she emigrated to Palestine. She worked as a designer at the Jewish Theatre, at the Adloiada carnival, at the Bialik exhibition, at the Eastern Bazaar, and painted portraits of artists and musicians, as well as landscapes of Palestine. Her first exhibition took place in 1937. In 1938, she was accepted into the Association of Artists and Sculptors of Palestine and received the Dizengoff Prize for her painting Palestinian Orchestra. At the beginning of World War II, she found herself in Lithuania, and during the Nazi occupation (1941-45), she was in the Kaunas ghetto. Throughout her imprisonment, she painted pictures of life in the ghetto. She hid about 200 of her works (25×35 cm) in jugs made in the ghetto's pottery workshops. In August 1944, she was transferred to the Leibitz labour camp (Germany). She was liberated by the Red Army in January 1945. In March 1945, an exhibition of her works was organised in a camp for displaced persons.
