Levinshtein (Lewinstein) (née Shvey) Genya Veniaminovna
(born 25 September 1932, Perm) — technician-technologist.
Genya Levinshtein was born in Perm to a family of craftsmen: her father, Veniamin Meyerovich Shvey (born 1893, Dvinsk), a roofer, was repressed in 1937 and died in 1944; he was posthumously rehabilitated in 1957. Her mother, Masha Leybovna Shvey (née Fisherman) (born 1899, Dvinsk), worked as a seamstress and died in Perm in 1938.
After her mother’s death Genya lived with her aunt in Sverdlovsk (today Yekaterinburg), where she completed seven grades at School No. 5 (1939–1946). She worked as a copyist at the Ural branch of the Teploelektroproekt Institute (1946–1958), while finishing ten grades of the Sverdlovsk secondary school and studying at a construction technical school.
In 1958 she relocated to Riga, where she worked as a copyist at the Riga branch of the Teploelektroproekt Institute (1958–1965), and later as a technologist and engineer-technologist at the Civil Aviation Experimental Plant (1965–1987).
She was married to Rafail Samuilovich Levinshtein (born 1928, Riga); the couple had no children.
In 1987 Genya Levinshtein received permission for a three-month visit to Israel to see her cousin Bentsion Veniaminovich Shvey (born 1917, Dvinsk).
