Kogan Mikhail Yakovlevich (1945, Karpinsk, Sverdlovsk Region) — motor mechanic.

Mikhail Kogan was born into the family of Yakov Kogan (b. 1922, Bendery) and Liya Kogan (b. 1920, Viški). From 1963, he worked at the Riga Taxi Depot. Beginning as an apprentice auto-electrician, Mikhail Kogan consistently improved his professional skills. In 1968, he qualified as a 4th-grade motor mechanic and tinsmith–body repairer–welder.

In 1961, Kogan was convicted under Article 121, Part 2 of the Criminal Code of the Latvian SSR and sentenced by the Riga District Court to two years’ imprisonment.

He was married to Simma Kogan (née Sosner) (b. 1946, Riga). The couple had two daughters: Zuzanna Kogan (b. 1966, Riga) and Liana Kogan (b. 1970, Riga).

In 1971, Mikhail Kogan and his family received permission to emigrate to Israel, where his wife’s maternal aunt, Sara-Khaya Goldshmit (née Blat) (b. 1911, Ribeni, Latvia), lived.
