Kharash (Harasch) Levi (Lewi) (1921, Daugavpils) - prisoner of Zion.
From 1935 until 1940, Levi Kharash served as secretary of the Zionist youth movement Volksheim. After the Soviet occupation, he went underground and continued his clandestine activities after the war. He was arrested in 1947 on charges of Zionist activity and of organising the escape of Jews from the Soviet Union to Palestine. He was sentenced by an MVD tribunal to ten years’ imprisonment and five years’ internal exile. He served his sentence in Omsk and Karaganda. He was released in 1955 and emigrated to Israel in 1990.
