Kaplan Mark Berovich (b. 13 March 1955, Riga) — surgeon.

Mark Kaplan was born into the family of physician Bers Leibovich Kaplan (b. 1912, Riga) and office worker Zinaida Aleksandrovna Kaplan (née Berlin) (b. 1922, Riga).

He studied at Riga Secondary School No. 40 (1962–1972), then at the Riga Medical Institute (1972–1979). From 1979 to 1980 he worked as a surgical intern at Riga City Hospital No. 4.

In 1980 Mark Kaplan received permission to emigrate to Israel, where his sister, Aleksandra Berovna Abeleva (née Kaplan) (b. 1945, Riga), had been living since 1973.
