Kadysh (Kadisch) Boris Mendelevich (12 September 1906, Nereta) — farmer.

Boris Kadish was the son of Mendel Kadish (1873–1935) and Judita Kadish (1879–1941). In 1921 he completed Nereta Primary School. From 1921 to 1927 he worked as a farm labourer in the Nereta district. Between 1927 and 1929 he served in the Latvian Army. Returning to Nereta in 1929, he worked as a farmer until 1932. That year he moved to Riga, where until 1941 he continued farm work for Mrs. Pecina at 28 Ziepniekkalna Street.

In 1941 he was interned in the Riga Ghetto. After passing through the camps at Sloka and Mežaparks, he was deported to Germany and imprisoned in the camps of Stonha, Stutthof and Burgraben. In 1945, during the advance of Soviet forces, he escaped from the camps and voluntarily enlisted in the Red Army. He was demobilised from the 206th Reserve Regiment in 1946 and returned to Riga.

Until 1947 he worked as a procurement officer in the Zagotzerno office. From 1947 to 1952 he was a storekeeper in the Building Office of the MLP of the Latvian SSR. Between 1952 and 1960 he worked at the “Kommutator” factory, and from 1960 to 1961 was a warehouse keeper at the “Sarkanais Karogs” factory. From 1962 he was employed as a procurement officer at the Sloka pulp and paper mill in Jūrmala.

Married to Debora Kadish (née Kabiller, Miller) (b. 1916, Daugavpils). Their children were Judita (b. 1948, Riga), Lina (b. 1951, Riga), and David (b. 1954, Riga).

During the Holocaust his mother, and siblings Isaak (1904–1941), Sasha (1908–1941), Lina (1912–1941), and Frida (1914–1941), were killed.

In 1961 Boris Kadish submitted his first request to emigrate to Israel, invited by his wife’s brother, Itzhak Miller (b. 1910, Riga). Permission for the Kadish family to leave was granted in 1967, but due to the military–political situation, their departure was delayed until 1968.
