Groisman Vadim Yakovlevich (b. 27 March 1948, Riga) — chemical process engineer.

Vadim Groisman was born into a military family. His father, Yakov Abovich Groysman (1908, Mykolaiv, Ukraine – 1972, Moscow), and mother, Ida Isaevna Groysman (née Feldman) (b. 1912, Odesa, Ukraine), raised him in Riga.

He graduated from Secondary School No. 35 in 1966 and went on to study at the Riga Polytechnic Institute, from which he graduated in 1971. Throughout both school and university, he combined study with part-time work: in 1964 and 1965, he worked in the storeroom of the Dzintars restaurant; in 1966, he was a laboratory assistant at School No. 35.

Upon graduating, he completed military training in Klosta, Estonia (1971), and then worked as an engineer at the Riga Chemical-Pharmaceutical Plant, later part of the “Pharmacy” production association (1971–1979).

In his marriage to Tamara Alekseevna Groisman (née Klimova) (b. 1948, Riga), twins were born: Daniel Vadimovich Groysman and Diana Vadimovna Groysman (both b. 1971, Riga).

In 1979, the family received permission to emigrate to Israel, where a relative of his wife — Goda Markovna Levitan (née Dvorkina) (b. 1906, Riga), sister of her maternal grandfather — had lived since 1974.
