Gilevich (Gilewitch) Khanon (Chanon) Davidovich (25 August 1908, Ludza) — civil servant.

Khanon Gilevich was the son of David Gilevich (1874, Ludza – 1946, Ludza) and Rivka Gilevich (née Skutelskaya) (1874, Preiļi – 1941, Ludza). Until 1927, his parents lived in Preiļi before relocating to Ludza. In 1929, he graduated from Ludza Secondary School. In 1931, he completed a two-year teacher training course in Riga.

From 1931 to 1932, he served in the Latvian Army. Between 1932 and 1940, he worked as a private tutor and an agent for the Ludza branch of the insurance company Latvijas Lloyds. From 1940 to 1941, he served as a senior inspector at Gosstrakh in Ludza. In 1941, he was evacuated to the Gorky region, where he continued working in the state insurance system. Later that winter, he moved to the Fergana region and worked at the Dmitrov kolkhoz.

From 1942 to 1943, he served in the Soviet Army. He was twice wounded in combat near Staraya Russa and was declared unfit for further military service. From 1945 to 1946, he acted as manager of the Rezekne inter-district office of Soyuzutil. In 1947, he was an accountant at Soyuzutil in Rezekne. He worked as a bookkeeper-cashier from 1947 to 1948, and from 1948 to 1951 taught at the Ludza Economic Technical College.

In 1951, he moved with his family to Riga, where he became a workshop foreman at the Pirmrindnieks artel. He was awarded the Order of Glory, 3rd Class, and the Medal “For the Victory over Germany in the Great Patriotic War 1941–45”.

Married to Bluma Gilevich (née Druyan) (b. 1910, Ludza). His parents had four children. His brother, Isaak Gilevich (b. 1904, Preiļi – d. 1976, Riga), lived and worked in Riga during the 1950s. Another brother, Ilya Gilevich (b. 1906, Preiļi), emigrated to South Africa in the 1920s. His sister, Sarra Zibel (née Gilevich) (b. 1902, Preiļi), emigrated to what is now Israel in the 1920s.

In 1956, Khanon Gilevich submitted his first application to emigrate to Israel. He received permission to leave only in 1964. In the late 1970s, he worked as an accountant in Ramat Gan.
