Freidenson (Freidensohn) Hirsh (Hirsch) Kusilevich (18 August 1920, Daugavpils) - worker.

Hirsh Freidenson was born into the family of a tailor, Kusiel Freidenson (1894, Daugavpils — 1977, Riga), and Rivka Freidenson (née Kagan) (1898, Daugavpils — 1979, Riga). He completed six classes of primary school and in 1938 graduated from the Daugavpils vocational school.

In 1939–1940 he worked as a laborer in a private furniture workshop in Daugavpils. In 1940–1941 he was employed as a carpenter at the “Radiotekhnika” factory in Riga. During 1941–1943 he worked as a carpenter in workshops in Astrakhan and Irkutsk.

In 1943 Hirsh Freidenson volunteered for active service in the Soviet Army but was demobilized the same year due to injury. He was classified as a disabled veteran of the Second World War (Group II). From 1943 to 1945 he worked as a trainee and controller at a heavy machinery plant in Irkutsk.

In 1945 he returned to Riga, where until 1946 he worked as a supply agent at the “Mostostroi” enterprise. In 1946–1947 he was employed as a norm-setter, dispatcher, and sorter at the “Krasny Oktyabr” combine in Riga. In 1947–1948 he served as head of a purchasing point in the “Rīgas Kooperators” artel, and in 1948–1949 in the “Rīgas Drebnieks” artel. From 1949 to 1953 he worked as a kiosk manager and merchandise expert in the Riga municipal industrial trade system, and in 1953 as an appraiser in a pawnshop.

From 1953 to 1962 he worked as a laborer and workshop head in the “Darbs” artel (later the “Ausma” factory). In 1962 he was convicted under Articles 88(2) and 165 of the Criminal Code of the Latvian SSR and sentenced by the Supreme Court of Riga to six years of imprisonment, which he served in a correctional labor colony in Jelgava.

After his release, from 1968 to 1971 he worked as a controller at the “Rīgas Apavi” factory. In 1972–1973 he was employed as a worker and electrical engineer in the “Latkoopstroimontazh” trust. From 1973 to 1979 he worked as a senior merchandise expert at the combine of the Latvian Theatre Society. From 1979 he was retired on disability pension.

Hirsh Freidenson was married to Sonya Freidenson (née Bik) (1922, Daugavpils). Their daughters were Bella Lisnyanskaya (née Freidenson) (1944, Irkutsk) and Evgenia Kopilenko (née Freidenson) (1947, Riga). In 1980 he received permission to emigrate to Israel.
