After completing a seven-year German school, Roza Fleisher entered a Latvian gymnasium. In 1936 she moved to Riga, where until 1940 she worked as an apprentice in private sewing workshops. In 1940 she began working as a typist in the structures of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Riga.

In 1941 she was evacuated to Petropavlovsk, where she continued to work in the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Her parents, sister, and three brothers were evacuated to Kotel’nich. In 1942 her daughter Eva Nurgalievna Bam (née Fleisher) was born. In the same year her father, Meyer Shleimovich Fleisher (born 1882), died of a heart attack; shortly thereafter her mother, Eva Lvovna Fleisher (born 1901), and her sister Basya Meerovna (born 1925) also died. In 1943, following the death of her parents, she moved to the Kirov region, to Kotel’nich, where her younger brothers remained.

In 1946 she was transferred back to Riga. From 1948 to 1951 she worked as a court secretary in the Moscow District of Riga. In 1951 her son Harry Borisovich Fleisher was born. From 1951 to 1954 she did not work, raising her children. From 1954 to 1957 she worked as a secretary at the enterprise “Glavgalantereya.” From 1957 to 1963 she worked as a press operator and stamper at the “Ausma” factory. From 1965 to 1977 she worked as a manicurist at the enterprise “Laimdota.” Her husband, Boris Emelyanovich Baranovsky (born 1915), died in 1969.

Her elder brother Leon Fleisher (born 1918) lived in Israel and worked as a dental technician, while her brothers Yakov Fleisher (born 1928) and Solomon Fleisher (born 1930) emigrated to Israel in 1972.
