Flaksman (Flaksmann) Lazer-David (Laser-Dawid) Solomonovich (24 October 1931, Riga) - worker.
Lazer-David Flaksman was the son of Zalamon Flaksman (1898, Krustpils — 1964, Riga) and Genya Shlemovna Flaksman (née Shenkman) (1901, Jaunjelgava). When the Nazi Germany invaded, he was evacuated with his mother to Kyzyl-Orda in the Kazakh SSR, where in 1942 he completed four classes of primary school. In 1945 the family returned to Riga.
From 1948 to 1949 he was an apprentice mechanic at the mechanical workshops of the Riga production combine “Soyuztorgreklama.” In 1949 he worked as a mechanic at the “Jaunais Komunars” factory. In 1950 he was a worker at the Riga bone-processing plant, and in 1950–1951 he worked as a cutter at the glass factory “Kommunar.” In 1952–1954 he was employed in the Riga artel “Dzimtene.” In 1955 he worked at Riga Paper Factory No. 2, and in 1956 as a general laborer at Riga repair and construction office No. 29. From 1956 to 1960 he again worked in the artel “Dzimtene,” later reorganized into the artels “Baltija” and “Promprodukt.” In 1960–1961 he worked as a concrete worker in the Riga road construction administration, and from 1961 to 1971 as a loader in the transport department of the “Rigaselmaš” factory.
He was married to Raisa Flaksman (née Ziskel) (1928, Bendery district), with whom he had two daughters, Sofia Flaksman (born 1957, Riga) and Sulama Flaksman (born 1965, Riga). His brothers Tsalel Flaksman (1917, Kuibyshev) and Haim Flaksman (1925, Riga) went missing during the Second World War. His sister Sheina Kestenberg (née Flaksman) (1929, Riga) lived and worked in Israel in the 1970s. In 1971 he received permission to emigrate to Israel.
