Fesis Arnold (12 May 1872) — public figure, engineer.

Arnold Fesis was the son of the rabbi of Elisavetgrad. He graduated from the Riga Polytechnic Institute. Already during his student years, he became actively involved in public life among students.

He was for many years a member of the board of the student mutual aid fund. He served as chairman of the “Hermann Cohen” Foundation and was a co-founder of the Jewish philistine (graduates’) society at the Riga Polytechnic.

He was a member of the board of the Riga Jewish community from the time of its establishment. He was also a co-founder and chairman of the council of the Jewish Union of Credit Cooperatives in Latvia.

Additionally, he was a co-founder and board member of the Society of Homeowners, a co-founder and board member of the Latvian Red Cross, and a member of commissions at the Jewish Crafts School.

Particularly noteworthy is his role in the society “Cheap Jewish Public Kitchens,” which he founded in 1905 and where he served as chairman and an active leader.
