Faitelson ( Feitelsohn) Volf (Wolf) Yakovlevich (15 May 1938, Riga) — chemical engineer.
Volf Faitelson was the son of Ester Faitelson (née Gutman) (1907, Palanga) and Yakov Faitelson (1898, Liepāja — 1961). In 1954, he graduated from RigaSecondary School No. 1. In 1960, he graduated from Vilnius State University, obtaining a degree as a chemist and chemistry teacher.
From 1960 to 1968, he worked as a laboratory assistant and shift supervisor at the Riga Paint and Varnish Factory. In 1968, he worked as an engineer at the “REZ” plant and at the Riga branch of the enterprise “Orgproektcement.” From 1968 onward, he worked as a process operator at the Riga Pharmaceutical Factory.
He was married to Feiga Faitelson (née Shapiro) (1935, Panevėžys).
In 1966, Volf Faitelson submitted his first application to emigrate to Israel, invited by his mother’s sisters — Rachel Faitelson (née Gutman) (1905, Palanga) and Maria Khulina (née Gutman) (1920, Palanga). His requests to leave the country were repeatedly denied.
In early 1971, he took part in drafting a collective letter addressed to the Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the Latvian SSR, Y. Ya. Ruben, demanding permission for a group of Latvian Jews to emigrate to Israel. In 1971, his family was granted permission to emigrate.
