Born into the family of glassworker Evenstein Moisei Aronovich (1887, Sebezh — 1939, Riga) and Evenstein Mere Yefroimovna (1883, Daugavpils — 1964, Riga). In 1923, the family moved to Riga, where he completed 6 grades of primary school. Worked as a tailor's apprentice at the Meyerson workshop (1932–34) and as a tailor at the Lifshits workshop (1934–41). In 1941, was evacuated to Yaroslavl Oblast, from where he went to the front. Awarded two medals “For Valour,” medals “For the Defence of Moscow” and “For Victory over Germany in the WWII 1941–45,” and anniversary awards. After returning to Riga, worked as a tailor — at the “Savieniba” cooperative (1946–48), at the “Rybkoop” workshop (1948–50), at the “Rigas Kooperators” cooperative (later renamed Bespoke Clothing Factory No. 1, 1950–61), at atelier No. 14 of the Kutaisi industrial combine (1961–63), at atelier No. 14 of the “Siluet” production association (1963–69).
His marriage to Evenstein (Shneyder) Leya Orlovna (1928, Liepāja) produced a daughter Levina (Evenstein) Riva Abramovna (1952, Riga) and a son Evenstein Zamuel (also given as Samuil) Abramovich (1959, Riga).
In 1968, received permission to emigrate to the USA, where since the 1930s his sister Bank (Evenstein) Sara Moiseyevna (1912) had been living.
