Dembo Alexander (born in Paris, 1931 – died 1999) - graphic artist and educator.

In 1932, Alexander Dembo moved to Riga. He studied at the Jāzeps Rozentāls Riga Secondary School of Art (1947–49), the Riga Secondary School of Applied Arts (graduated 1955), and the Latvian Academy of Arts (graduated 1963). Beginning in 1962, he taught at the Academy—receiving promotion to Associate Professor in 1974 and full Professor in 1984—where he mentored many talented artists.

Dembo began exhibiting in 1962, holding solo and group shows across Russia, Estonia, Georgia, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Sweden, Germany, the United Kingdom, and the United States. His substantial body of work spans easel and book graphics, design, and painting, characterised by a sweeping perspective on reality, deep cultural-historical erudition, a strong sense of his era, and rhythmic intensity.

Notable graphic cycles include:

Sea Ploughmen (1963), etchings

Saaremaa (1967), etchings

In Honour of the 100th Anniversary of the Latvian Song Festival (1973), etchings

California Album (1976), etchings

People and Space (1976), etchings

Space and Us (1978), etchings

Open Letters to a Friend (1981–1982), soft-ground etchings
