Bukhbinder (Buchbinder) Mikhail Khononovich (born September 22, 1936, Riga) – technician-technologist.

Mikhail Bukhbinder was born into the family of a watchmaker, Khonon Girshovich Bukhbinder (1906, Kuldīga, Latvia – 1979, Israel), and Dveyra Mikhailovna Bukhbinder (née Kremer) (1905, Griva, Daugavpils District – 1942, Ak-Bulak, Chkalov Oblast). He was raised by his father's second wife, who was also his maternal aunt, Sonya Mikhailovna Fogel (née Kremer) (1911, Griva, Daugavpils District). There is no data on where he was evacuated during the war.

Upon returning to Latvia, Mikhail Bukhbinder studied at Jelgava Evening Secondary School (1944–1955) while simultaneously apprenticing and later working as a watchmaker at the Jelgava City Industrial Complex (1953–1955). In 1955, he worked as a warehouse tool-keeper at Road Maintenance Section No. 220 (Jelgava), and then served in the Soviet Army (1955–1958, Baltic Military District and Moscow Military District).

After demobilization, he worked in Jelgava as a heat treatment operator at the “REZ” factory (1958–1959), at “Jelgavselmash” (1959–1965), at the Jelgava Machine Plant (1965–1968), and at the Repair-Mechanical Plant (1968–1976). He was also a mechanic at the local “Selkhoztekhnika” (1976–1977), and a mechanic and design engineer at “Latvijas Keramika” (1977–1979). From 1979 to 1986, he worked as a construction laborer under temporary contracts in collective and state farms in the Bauska district. He graduated from the Riga Industrial Technical School in 1972.

Mikhail Bukhbinder was married to Agafya Yefimovna Bukhbinder (née Petrova) (born 1933, Due settlement, Sakhalin), and they had a son, Andrey Mikhailovich Bukhbinder (born 1955, Jelgava).

In 1987, Mikhail Bukhbinder applied to emigrate to Israel to visit his half-sister, Vera Khononovna Shteingart (née Bukhbinder) (born 1949, Riga). There is no information available about whether permission was granted or denied.
