In March 1944, he was appointed commander of the submarine Shch-310 (3rd Division, Baltic Fleet Submarine Brigade), which he commanded until the end of the war. Under Bogorad's command, Shch-310 completed three combat patrols, during which it sank or damaged eight enemy vessels. In March 1945, the Shch-310 was awarded the Order of the Red Banner, and by the Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of 8 July 1945, for exemplary performance of combat missions, personal bravery, and heroism shown in battles against the Nazi invaders, Captain 3rd Rank Bogorad was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union, along with the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal.

After the war, Bogorad continued to serve in the Soviet Navy. From 1945 to 1948, he commanded the submarine K-56, and until February 1950, the submarine N-28. From November 1952 to October 1959, he commanded a separate division of naval test range ships. On 26 May 1955, he was promoted to the rank of Captain 1st Rank. From October 1959, he served as Head of Auxiliary Vessels of the Riga Naval Base of the Red Banner Baltic Fleet. In March 1961, he was honourably discharged due to length of service.
