Beshkin Shmuel Berovich (19.06.1931, Riga) was born into the working-class family of Beshkin Ber Davidovich (according to his brother Isroel — Leibovich) (1892, Daugavpils — 1942, Andijan Oblast, Uzbek SSR) and homemaker Beshkina (Kabiller) Berta Yakovlevna (Yankelevna) (1893, Sabile — 1943, Andijan Oblast, Uzbek SSR). In 1951, he completed 10 grades of an evening school for working youth (Daugavpils). Worked as a cutter at the “Spars” cooperative (1949–56, Riga); studied at a medical college (1956–59, Lviv); worked as a dispatcher at the “Sarkanais Oktobris” match factory (1959–60, Riga); was a facilities manager at kindergarten No. 41 (1960–61, Riga); worked as a cutter at a district industrial combine (1961–62); was unable to work due to illness (1962–63); worked as a technician at the Riga Bus Depot (1963); as a planer operator at the “Pervoe Maya” factory (1963–65, Riga); as an optician at the Republican “Medtekhnika” office (1965–73); as a worker at the food trade organisation (1974); as deputy head of shop No. 8 of the Gorpromtorg (1975–76, Riga); as an optician at the Republican “Medtekhnika” administration (1976, Riga); and as a computing machinery mechanic at domestic enterprise No. 29 (1976, Riga).
His marriage to Beshkina (Blat) Lyubov Borukhovona (1937, Varaklāni) produced a son Beshkin Boris Shmuelovich (1969, Riga).
In 1977, he received permission to emigrate to Israel, where since 1971 his wife's brother — Blat Simkha Borukhovich (1934, Varaklāni) — had been living.
