Berelovich (Berelowitsch) (née Westerman) Basya Nohumovna (19.02.1900, Bauska – 1974, Melbourne, Australia) – worker.

Basya Berelovich was born into the family of Nohum Berovich Westerman (1858, Bauska – 1918, Dnipropetrovsk), a labourer, and Dina Yosifovna Westerman (1860, Bauska – 1920, Dnipropetrovsk), a housewife.

She studied at Bauska Gymnasium until 1915, when she and her family were evacuated to Dnipropetrovsk due to World War I. There, she worked in various jobs until 1922.

In 1922, Basya Berelovich returned to Latvia, got married, and remained a homemaker until 1941.

During World War II, she was evacuated to Kustanay, Kazakh SSR, where she worked in a leather shoe workshop (1941–1945).

Upon returning to Riga, she worked at the Kurpnieks artel (1945–1950). After 1950, Basya Berelovich did not have a payed job and was financially supported by her husband and later by her daughter.

Basya was married to Zundel Leizerovich Berelovich (1892, Bauska – 1953, Riga), with whom she had a son and two daughters: Nohum Zundelovich Berelovich (born 1923, Riga), Mala Zundelovna Berelovich (1925, Jurmala – 1925), Sara Zundelovna and Zalshtayn (née Berelovich) (born 1927, Jurmala) .

In 1961, Basya Berelovich was granted permission to emigrate to Australia, where her daughter Sara Zalshtayn (née Berelovich) had been living since 1957.
