On his journey, he was wounded and received treatment in the city of Tashkent. From 1943 to 1944 he worked as a cobbler in Tashkent. In 1944 he returned to Riga.

 From 1945 to 1951 he worked as a warehouse manager in Riga. From 1951 to 1956 he was in charge of the fuel depot in Riga. In 1956 he was found guilty by the high court of the Latvian Socialist Soviet Republic (LSSR) according to paragraph 111 for negligence at work and sentenced to two years in prison. He was released in 1957. From 1957 to 1958 he was a forwarding agent for the Main Communal Market of the LSSR. From 1958 to 1962 Band worked as a glasscutter for "Rigas Express" and a glass grinder from 1962 to 1973 at the same company. In 1973 he retired.
