In 1916 the family moved to Karsava. In 1929 she graduated from Karsava Jewish Secondary School and moved to Riga. In 1930–34 she worked as a nanny in Riga families. From 1934 to 1940 she was a winder at the “Ribbons and Laces” factory in Riga. In 1941 she was evacuated with her family to Orenburg. In 1942–44 she worked at the “Auto Parts” factory in Orenburg.

After returning to Riga in 1945 she worked as a labourer at the enterprise “Latopromtorg.” In 1948–49 she worked at the artel “Uznemība.” In 1949–50 she was employed at the “Maksla” combine. In 1950–51 she worked at the artels “Brivība” and “Daugava.” In 1958 and again from 1961 she worked as a disinfector at Branch No. 1 of the Riga Preventive Disinfection Office.

In her first marriage, with Zalman Zakher (1904, Ludza – 1943), she had two daughters: Maya Treger (née Zakher) (b. 1937, Riga) and Ida Zakher (1941, Orenburg – 1942, Orenburg). Her first husband was killed in action near Staraya Russa; her daughter Ida died in evacuation.

In 1945 she married Lev Zernitsky (b. 1905, Rogachev); their daughter Liya Zernitskaya (b. 1946, Riga) was born in this marriage.

Her brother Lev Neischul (1910, Rezekne – 1942, Riga) perished in the Holocaust.

In 1971 Fruma Zernitskaya received permission to emigrate to Israel at the invitation of her cousin Bluma Yankelovich (née Rotshtein) (b. 1902) and her husband Zalman Yankelovich (b. 1909).
