Zaks Isaak-Ilya Geselevich (1889)

Zaks Isaak-Ilya Geselevich (24.10.1889, Riga — ?) — teacher, assistant lecturer at the chemistry faculty of Leningrad University. In 1907 he completed the Riga Commercial School of N.N. Mironov; in 1912 — the chemistry division of the Riga Polytechnic with a diploma of engineer-technologist. During the First World War he was in evacuation with the Riga Polytechnic in Ivanovo-Voznesensk, where from 15 September 1918 to 1 August 1920 he was a docent. After returning to Riga, from 15 September 1920 to June 1941 he worked as sub-assistant and assistant at the physical and electrochemical laboratory of the department of inorganic chemistry of the chemistry faculty of the Latvian State University. For several years he held the position of consulting engineer at the Riga glassworks “Emolīps” (Sliežu Street 6). According to the records of the Teachers' Census Commission of the Ministry of Education, from 1921 to the end of the 1930s he taught in Riga as a fully qualified teacher of mathematics, physics, and chemistry at the basic and secondary school of the Jewish Society for the Development of Art and Knowledge, and later worked at the Riga Municipal Jewish Secondary School. Wife: Katrina (née Andersone, b. 1889); son Viktor (b. 1920).
