From 1932 to 1938, Asya Vulfson studied at the six-form Jewish school in Daugavpils, and from 1938 to 1941 attended the Daugavpils Jewish Gymnasium. In 1941, her father, Izrail Nakhimovsky (b. 1899, Daugavpils – d. 1973, Riga), was exiled with his wife Bluma Nakhimovskaya (née Pitum) (b. 1883, Preiļi – d. 1970, Riga) and children to the village of Dzerzhinskoye in Krasnoyarsk Krai. This was due to his status as a former co-owner of a shop and a prominent rubber goods merchant with an annual business turnover of 617,000 lats.

In 1943, she completed secondary school in the town of Kansk. In 1953, she graduated from the medical college in Khiva, earning a qualification as a nurse. From 1951 to 1955, she worked as an economist at the district consumer society in Khiva. Between 1956 and 1961, she served as a nurse in the medical unit of the Jambyl Superphosphate Plant’s hospital. From 1961 to 1962, she was a dietary nurse at the medical unit of the Tashkent Textile Plant.

In 1962, Asya Vulfson moved to Riga, where she worked as a dietary nurse at the Stradins Republican Clinical Hospital. She was awarded the Veteran of Labour medal.

She was married to Hirsh Wulfson (1926, Daugavpils – 1976, Riga), and they had three children: Genokh Wulfson (b. 1948, Riga), Stella Andreeva (née Wulfson) (b. 1954, Khiva, Uzbek SSR), and Alexander Wulfson (b. 1955, Dzhambul, Kazakh SSR).
