No documentation is available concerning his education or principal places of employment. It is known that he worked as a secondary school teacher in the Orsha District, Vitebsk Region, Belarus (1984–1986), and as a foreman and fitter at a glass and mirror factory, later transformed into the joint-stock company “Mirror” (1986–1992).
