Later in 1942, he was transferred to a reserve regiment of the Latvian Division in the Gorokhovets camps.

He was awarded the medals “For Courage,” “For Military Merit,” “For the Victory over Germany in the Great Patriotic War 1941–1945,” and “20 Years of the Victory over Germany in the Great Patriotic War 1941–1945.”

In 1947–1952, he worked as a photographer in the artel “Rīgas Foto.” In 1952–1955, he was a freelance photographer for the magazine “Padomju Latvija.” In 1956–1961, he worked as a photographer for the magazine “Padomju Latvijas Sieviete.” In 1961–1967, he worked for the magazines “Druva” and “Lauku Dzīve.” In 1967–1968, he was a worker in a municipal trade shop in Riga.
