Shvey Moisey Grigoryevich (27.12.1904, Daugavpils) — shoemaker. Son of Shvey Girsh (1869, Daugavpils — 1914, Daugavpils) and Shvey Yudes (1872, Daugavpils — 1918, Daugavpils). In 1914—17 — shoemaker's apprentice at a private workshop in Daugavpils. In 1917—22 — shoemaker at Yudidovich's workshop. In 1922 Sh. moved to Riga, and until 1923 worked at Shetsen's workshop. In 1923—25 — shoemaker at Shkutskin's workshop.
In 1925—26 he served in the ranks of the Latvian Army. After completing his military service Sh. moved to Gostiņi, and until 1929 worked at Bravin's workshop. In 1929 he moved to Ērgļi, where he opened his own shoemaking workshop, in which he worked until June 1941.
In 1941 Sh. was confined together with his family to the Riga ghetto, where Sh.'s wife, Shvey (née Beynert) Ida (1906, Pļaviņas — 1941, Riga), and four sons, Shvey Yudel (1930, Ērgļi — 1941, Riga), Shvey David (1932, Ērgļi — 1941, Riga), Shvey Berl (1934, Ērgļi — 1941, Riga), and Shvey Israel (1940, Ērgļi — 1941, Riga), were killed. As a result of the barbaric conditions of confinement in the ghetto, in 1943 Sh. lost his right leg (a category 2-1 invalid). In 1944 Sh. was transported to the Stutthof concentration camp, from which he was liberated in May 1945 with the advance of the Soviet Army, and moved to Riga. In 1945—50 — shoemaker at the “Spars” artel. In 1950 — shoemaker at the “Remont” workshop on the Riga seacoast. In 1950—56 — shoemaker at the Riga Shoe Artel and the “Apavnieks” artel. In 1956—57 — shoemaker at Shop No. 1 of Riga's 2nd Municipal Food and Industrial Trade Office. In 1957—62 — private shoe repair craftsman. From 1962 — heel maker at the “Venta” Riga leather-and-shoe combine.
In his second marriage to Shvey (née Doroga, Shteyngard) Dobra (1912, Varakļāni), daughter Shvey Riva (1951, Riga) was born. In 1962 Sh. received permission to emigrate to Israel.
