1)
From his father's side and from his mother's side.
2)
Son of the Rabbanit Golda, daughter of the holy R. Baruch Shalom, son of the Lubavitcher Rebbe the Tzemach Tzedek — Sefer HaSichot of the Lubavitcher Rebbe (Mohariatz), 5702, p. 18.
3)
At the beginning of 5670 he was still in Vyelizh (Igrot Kodesh of the Lubavitcher Rebbe (Mohariatz), vol. 16, p. 21).
4)
In Pinkas HaKehillot, p. 251, it is written: “The rabbi of the Hasidim until 5675 (1915) was R. Leib Schneersohn,” and likewise R. Avraham Gudin writes in the weekly Kfar Chabad, issue 145, p. 29 (but I have not found this in additional sources). This is apparently R. Leib of Vyelizh — see about him in Likutei Sipurei HaHitva'aduyot (by R. Menachem Ze'ev Gringlaz), pp. 439 ff. and in what is cited in note 2 there (and there, p. 456, it tells of his son R. Chaim Shneur Zalman of Łódź, who had a letter of rabbinate from the Anash of Riga requesting him to come and settle here as the Hasidic rabbi, but he refused).
5)
See Igrot Kodesh of the Lubavitcher Rebbe (Maharshab), vol. 2, p. 869, from 2 Elul 5677: “the great rabbi R. Shneur Zalman Schneersohn, son of the great rabbi R.L., of blessed memory, of Riga.”
