Latvia and Rabbis

1)
In the book Sha'arei Tzion (Łódź 5664) an approbation of his from 5663 was printed, where he signs “of the holy congregation of Kreutzburg.” His letter (to the author of Sha'arei Tzion) is also cited in HaMeasef, seventh year (5662), booklet 6, p. 74 (in both sources he signs his family name as Shanon). In HaMelitz from 1 Sivan 5647 (24 May 1887) a letter from him was printed in which he signs “of the holy congregation of Kreutzburg, dayan and decisor of the above-mentioned,” so that in 5647 he was already serving here as rabbi, and also in the 60s [of the sixth millennium]. His undated approbation was printed in Beit Lechem Yehudah (Vilna 5664).
