Sandler Yuda (Juda) Evnovich (1909, Viļaki, Vitebsk Province — 1973) — mechanical engineer, economic manager.

Yuda Sandler graduated from a Jewish vocational school in Riga. From 1930 to 1940, he worked in Riga as a foreman at Kassel’s factory of kitchen utensils and primus stoves.

From the summer of 1941, he fought in the war — first as part of a destruction battalion, and later in the Latvian Division. He was finally demobilized in 1953.

After the war, he headed the artel “Sarkanmetāls”, which produced aluminum cookware. Under his leadership, the artel expanded significantly: he incorporated iron casting production, established the manufacture of copper alloy products, created an experimental workshop for the development and production of foundry equipment, and organized an analytical laboratory equipped for spectral analysis.

By 1954, the artel had been transformed into a non-ferrous casting plant, of which Sandler served as director from its founding until his retirement in 1970.

The plant also produced large structural elements for construction projects in Riga, including decorative cast-iron grilles, components for bridges over the Daugava River, metal elements for monuments, as well as aluminum floor plates for computing centers throughout Latvia.
