Pernyak (Perniak) Yakov (Jakow) Nison (Nisson) (May 19, 1890, Ukmergė, Kovno Governorate – 1941, Buchenwald) – educator.
Yakov Nison Pernyak graduated from the Riga Polytechnic Institute in 1918 with a degree in engineering and technology. Although he did not hold a formal degree in education, the Certification Commission of the Ministry of Education permitted him to teach.
Pernyak began his teaching career on January 1, 1922, at the Primary and Secondary School of the Jewish Society for the Advancement of Art and Knowledge. In the 1935/36 academic year, he served as acting principal of the school. On August 1, 1936, by decision of the Latvian Ministry of Education, he was appointed principal.
After the school was closed on August 15, 1940, following the Soviet annexation of Latvia, Pernyak applied for permission to work in Russian-language schools.
In 1941, he was deported to the Riga Ghetto, then transferred to the Stutthof concentration camp, and later to Buchenwald, where he was killed.
