In 1924, she completed five classes of a Jewish primary school. Until 1941, she worked as a seamstress in private workshops in Riga. During the Holocaust, her brother Podoksin Yakov (1909, Riga – 1944) perished. Her brother Podoksin David (1905, Riga) emigrated from Latvia in 1922 and lived in the USA in the 1970s.
